Booking for Sub Brit's Spring Meeting on Saturday 25 April is now open.
We have a new venue this year at the London Metropolitan University in Holloway Road (N7 8DB).
Phil Catling has arranged four fascinating speakers:
- Robert Stephenson on 'The Horror of Premature Burial'
- Wesley Perriman talking on Nuclear Testing on Christmas Island
- Emily Glass on the Bunkers of Albania
- Prof Neil Hyatt on the construction of repositories for Nuclear Waste.
There will also be slots for members' contributions and our AGM will precede the speaker programme.
The cost is £25 to include a buffet lunch. Refreshments from 0930, meeting starts at 1000. Non members are very welcome to attend.
In addition, Tony Radstone has arranged a Sub Brit tour on the following today (Sunday 26 April) to Crossness Pumping Station (SE2 9AQ). This should make the trip more worthwhile for members who live some distance from London. Crossness is known as the 'Cathedral of Sewage' and is a hugely impressive Grade 1 listed structure at the terminus of Bazalgette's Southern Outfall Sewer. The visit is an option for members only and costs an additional £15.
